May 22, 1963. Mantle hits a homerun that none who saw will ever forget. In the 11th inning off of Kansas City's, Mantle crushes a Bill Fischer pitch hard on a line to right field. The ball, still rising strikes the decorative facade of the stadium mere feet from the top No player ever hit a fair ball out of old Yankee Stadium. Mantles ball comes close, striking the facade at a point 102 feet above field level, and 352 feet horizontally from home plate. Wow! We can only say this card is as impressive as The Mick’s drive!
