There isn’t one card collector that doesn’t understand the significance and of the hobby renowned 1952 Mantle Topps rookie. While its place in the card industry as the “King” of post WWII cards is forever solidified, unfortunately for most enthusiasts, any high grade example, budget wise, is far out of their reach. For Topp’s collectors, there is however, an alternative path: this 1953 Topps issue. The “Mick” is baseball’s post WWII Babe Ruth! Yet, it wasn’t his statistics that helped him climb to the top of the baseball memorabilia circuit. Winner of 12 pennants and 7 World Championships, he was the classic American hero, idolized by millions of American boys largely in part as a result of his supernatural strength that produced a myriad of tape measure home runs. The card presented here, likewise, portrays all of the HOF qualities one would expect from a powerful champion.
