People always talk of Ruth’s hitting, but he was most proud of his pitching numbers as well. In 1916, he paced the Red Sox on their way to the Series title with a 23-13 record, a 1.75 ERA and nine shutouts. Not bad for a guy who would convert to outfield and hit 714 homeruns. His Goudey is a great find and affordable (for a Ruth!) at a VG-EX 4. The colors are bold and unfaded. The whites are still amazingly bright, as is the back, which shows only minimal bleed through. This Ruth grades beyond your average PSA 4.5 and, in our opinion, could rate a 5 or 5.5 at regrade.
