For over two decades, Tyrus Raymond Cobb was the superlative of superlatives. He was the most admired, most hated, most celebrated, most feared, most respected, most controversial, and most talented figure in all of Major League Baseball.

Perhaps the most competitive professional athlete of all time, Cobb’s cards remain at the highest level of demand and continue to increase in value to this day. There was only one Ty Cobb – no one will ever duplicate his feats on-field.

Finding a T206 Cobb, a Turkey Red, various caramel cards or any number of other period issues would be considered a treasure; however, finding a M101-6 Mendelsohn of Cobb is basically unfathomable for most collectors and investors. Perhaps the rarest of all Cobb issues, even the celebrated T-206 Ty Cobb Tobacco branded Cobb cards don’t compare to the Mendelsohn Cobb for rarity, this card could easily be considered a once in a lifetime opportunity.

As we often say, this card has been well-loved but never abused. It has obvious signs of handling and honest wear, but the possibility of ever seeing another of these Cobb issues. In an auction filled with highlights, this Cobb is spotlight worthy.
