After a solid rookie campaign in 1954, Aaron gave notice to baseball that he was here to stay in 1955. Baseball’s true home run king hit .314 with 27 homers and 106 RBI’s during the regular season—marking the first of 20 consecutive seasons of 20 or more homeruns. A .500 pitcher, who would have enjoyed a much better record had he played for better teams, Herbert is remembered for giving up Carl Yastrzemski’s first career base hit.
