The 1940 MVP, McCormick helped the Reds win their first World Series title since 1919, while leading the NL in hits, doubles and at-bats. A clutch, middle of the order hitter, McCormick became the 8th player in history to bang out 200 hits as a rookie during his debut campaign in 1938. A patient hitter, McCormick averaged only one strikeout for every 30 at-bats during his career.
